Okay friends, it’s getting hot out here in Texas! I can’t remember a day it hasn’t been in the 90s.
Luckily, I’ve got another super easy, fruity sorbet that’s helping me beat the heat. And I get to use fresh Texas peaches, to boot!
Now, you know I love me some Peach Frozen Yogurt, but there’s just something so fresh and clean about making this 3 ingredient sorbet that gives me all the feels.
Plus: frozen treats are everything. Let’s just come out and say it. The good news is that eating healthier should never be about depriving yourself of your favorite foods. You just need to adapt them a little bit. (More on that here.)
This peach sorbet, as opposed to my peach frozen yogurt, also cuts out the dairy, too. Now, don’t get me wrong: there’s nothing wrong with dairy and it can be a part of a healthy diet. But, if you’re lactose-intolerant or just want to cut the calories and still enjoy the dessert, sorbet’s definitely the way to go.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHERBET AND SORBET?Ok, this one is actually quite an easy one, but people often confuse the two. No wonder, really.
Sherbet and sorbet do sound quite similar and are made of (almost) all the same ingredients. The base of both a sherbet and a sorbet is mashed fruit, in most cases fresh fruit although frozen can be used as well, that’s then mashed and mixed with sugar and water until it reaches the desired consistency and texture.
The difference between a sherbet and a sorbet is that, unlike sorbet, sherbet also contains dairy. In order to reach the desired smoothness, sherbet calls for cream or milk.
While a sorbet is completely dairy and gluten-free and lower in calories, especially when you substitute refined sugar for raw honey or pure maple syrup, sherbet has a creamier, more ice-cream like texture.
WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN A SORBET?
As you know, for ingredients, I like to keep it simple.
To make a sorbet, you will need only 3 simple ingredients: fruit, lemon juice, and raw honey (or pure maple syrup if you’re vegan). When it comes to fruit, you can use any fruit you like. Summer fruits, like raspberries, peaches, and watermelons, make great sorbets!
Although fruit is usually pretty sweet on its own, you may need to add a touch of sweetener to your sorbet. In order to keep my sorbets refined-sugar-free, I usually choose raw honey or pure maple syrup. When foods freeze, they taste less sweet so keep that in mind when picking your fruit.
HOW TO MAKE PEACH SORBETSorbet is one of the easiest desserts you can make! When choosing your fruit, try to pick the freshest, juiciest peaches you can get your hands on. That’ll make the best sorbet and require the least added sweetener. That being said, you could even make this sorbet using frozen peaches you bought at the grocery store.
Luckily, all you need for this peach sorbet recipe is a food processor and some frozen peaches and you’ll have a light, refreshing dessert ready in no time!
IS PEACH SORBET HEALTHY?Desserts come in all shapes and sizes in terms of nutritional value (or lack thereof), but if you’re looking for a dessert that you’ll actually enjoy and still keep eating clean, it doesn’t get much better than a sorbet. Sorbet is gluten and dairy-free and if you’re using my recipe, refined-sugar-free as well. Plus it’s paleo and clean. Think of sorbet as a more refreshing, more fun way to enjoy fruit!
Peach sorbet is definitely a healthy option. Peaches are naturally sweet so they don’t need much help to curb your sugar cravings. Plus, peaches are very rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

Place the frozen peach slices into the bowl of a food processor or heavy duty blender, along with a little raw honey, and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Blend until smooth. You may need to add a little warm water and press down with a spatula to help the process along. Eat immediately for a softer texture, or transfer into a freezer-safe container and freeze for 3-4 hours or until firm. The post Peach Sorbet appeared first on A Sweet Pea Chef.
